Given Episode 03 begins with a quick flashback of how Sato got his guitar.

From the beginning we knew the guitar was special to Sato, now we know it belonged to someone that he cared about.

Nakayama is waiting for Kaji and he sees him pull up with Uenoyama’s sister (who is Kaji’s ex). Jealous Nakayama is adorable, it shows some vulnerability.

Uenoyama, is stressed out that Sato declined his band invite. He does what we all do, he Googles for solutions.

Sato found the coolest job ever, at a dive bar/lounge. He’s serious about being a contributing member of the band, Uenoyama is so proud!

Uenoyama and Sato are chatting after the interview and another student approaches Sato. This guy knows Sato and he knows the owner of the guitar, Yuki. It was a choice of fight or flight. Flight won.

Uenoyama catches up to the running Sato and asks about the guy and who’s Yuki? Sato’s disposition is aloof because he’s almost in a suspended state of grief. He’s not good at processing his emotions so his default is indifference.

Uenoyama does not understand why he’s so attached Sato. His actions shocked Sato.

Hiding behind the vending machine Kaji is listening to their exchange, and he hears Sato’s beautiful voice.

Subsequently, this moment between Sato and Uenoyama gave Sato the confidence he needed in himself. We all know he would be an excellent addition to the band!

At the end of Given Episode 03, we finally have a band.
