Motor Crush Volume 1 Graphic Novel Review

Motor Crush by Brenden Fletcher, Cameron Stewart and Babs Tarr is a wild ride!

Domino Swift is a street racer in the World Grand Prix (WGP). She battles for wins and fame legally. On the flip side she also does illegal unsanctioned races, The Cannonball, to get the prize Crush (an engine accelerant).

Motor Crush is chaotic and beautiful. Domino is a likable free spirit. She’s brash and tender, she means well even with her bad decisions.

The action begins with us getting a glimpse of Nova Honda, the racing capital of the world.

Domino is the daughter of ex WGP champ Sullivan Swift, he runs a bike shop. Big Sully’s Bike Shop is both shop and home on the ocean banks of Nova Honda.

We are swiftly introduced to some of the regulars in The Cannonball underground circuit. This is where we get to see Babs Tarr’s beautiful art burst from the pages.

Domino is victorious, but there is no celebratory rounds of drinks. Lan, a new mechanic at her Dad’s shop, was caught stealing Crush. Lan was made an example and we see how deadly the underground scene really is.

Events begin to spiral out of control when Domino’s Crush stash goes missing.

Domino has a secret and a badass ex-girlfriend named Lola. Actually Lola is in a bind. Lola and Domino become entangled once again and they hit the pedal to the metal.

Bad guys are on their tail and Domino is at the center of it all. We learn some family secrets and Domino makes a hell of a rash decision! Domino’s choices might backfire on her.

The end of volume one of Motor Crush has me ready to read volume two! I can’t wait to see Domino’s secrets unravel.
